Refernet
Refernet is a network created by CEDEFOP in 2002 to provide information on National Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems and policies in Members States, Iceland and Norway. This information is displayed in CEDEFOP databases and is used for comparative studies. At country level it gives valuable insights into national VET systems.
National Refernet Coordinator
The Malta Qualifications Council is the National Refernet Coordinator. Set up in December 2005, the overall objective of the Malta Qualifications Council (MQC), as specified in Legal Notice 347/2005, is to steer the development of the National Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (NQF) and to oversee the training and certification leading to qualifications within the Framework and which are not already provided for at compulsory education institutions or degree awarding bodies. MQC is responsible for defining the levels of qualifications and competences within the NQF and for establishing standards related to qualifications within the Framework. Malta’s Qualifications Framework is at the forefront of European developments, achieving as it does, the inclusion of qualifications across compulsory, vocational and academic sectors into a single framework.
